Book Covers

I am still busy, still running after minutes, hours and days. The reason is that Book Launch Day is approaching with hasty steps and I'm having that stressing feeling that nothing is ready yet.

But at last, I've taken the cover photo and made a first (probably not final) layout.

Thus, here I can proudly present what the new books (English, French and German version) will look like (more or less).
So - what do you think?

Reminder and Update

Buzz, buzz, busy bee… yep, that's me. The busy bee. Proofreading, and checking grammar and spelling, in English, in French, in German. The English version "Small Portions" is ready at last. That is, almost ready for there's one last text I'll have to write. The French and German versions are waiting to be proofread one last time. Then, there's the cover photo business to think of. I know exactly what I want. All I have to do is take the photo. Sounds easy, doesn't it?, but what with my natural proclivity for procrastination and my constant tiredness, it turns out harder than I thought.

What I've done already, on the other hand: I've written the text for my amazon presentation. A short text which will, I hope, attract readers by the millions. Well, hundreds. Well, one by one would be good already, I guess. But I assure you: "Small Portions" is a wonderful book. I'm really proud and satisfied. The two other versions "Kleine Portionen" and "Petites portions" are wonderful as well. Lemme just check'em one last time, and everything will be ready for the Big Moment: the book launch on Nov. 15th.

Oh, one last thing: I've finally filled out my amazon Book Author Page. You can find it here - feel free to tweet it, google+ it, facebook it, pin it and do to it whatever you can think of. My promotion depends on you, too! Think bearded guy, think fierce eyes staring straight into your eyes, think finger pointing at you, think "We Want You!" - you get the picture?

Thankie, thankie in advance, and looking forward to seeing you at the latest on Nov. 15th 2012 for the Launch with a Bang of "Small Portions"!

I’ve finally made up my mind. I’ve tweeted it, facebooked it, googleplussed it. The day of my book launch will be November 15th. A Thursday – so may Thor, the god of thunder, be my “patron saint”, who will act as “the intercessor and advocate in heaven” (dixit wikipedia) of my craft and enterprise.
Now what will this new book be about? As its title “Small Portions” suggests, it will contain short texts, each one a single page in my word processing program. I have selected 111 texts that will talk about new beginnings, split-ups, relationships, friendships, losses, nature, people, landscapes, memories. They will outline some aspects of my life. But it will not be an autobiography – who would want to read an autobiography of me at this point of my life? Not even I, I’m afraid.
Ever since I’ve stumbled upon The Vine Leaves LiteraryJournal, where one of my poem has been recently published, I’ve been rather smitten with the basic idea of that magazine, which is the literary form of the vignette, “a short impressionistic scene that focuses on one moment or gives a trenchant impression about a character, idea, setting, or object” (dixit wikipedia again). And I’ve realized that ever since I’ve started publishing my writing on this blog, I’ve used that literary form without meaning to, without knowing it. That’s why I’ve chosen 111 texts out of this bulk of more than three years’ worth of writing and blogging. I’ve done some thorough editing and rewriting. And I’m currently translating these texts into German (the German version will be called “Kleine Portionen”) and French (“Petites portions”). The three versions will be launched simultaneously.
Of course, there will be a special Book Launch Promo Price that I will maintain until the end of the year so that the book will be available for little money right for Christmas and the New Year. I’ve got a precise idea as to how the cover will look like; but I haven’t yet got the time to take the picture I plan to use. Of course, as soon as it will be ready, I’ll show you! Now, the English selection is done and waiting for me to be proofread one last time. The French version is ready and I’m currently proofreading and editing it. As for the German version, I’m halfway through the translations.
Anyway, the journey is exciting; translating my own texts helps me to understand some weak spots, makes me wonder how I’ve been able to write some passages I really find very nicely done, and means loads and loads of work. Now, don’t forget about November 15th! And watch out – there might be a surprise for you anytime soon!
PS: And a warm thanks to Glynis Smy, Joyce Lansky and Chinaren who’ve accepted to participate in making my book launch a great blogger community event! If you want to participate, too, just leave me a comment or email me at scenario2000 AT hotmail DOT com.
